Candle Care & Safety Guide 🕯️
We want you to get the absolute most out of your candles! To ensure a beautiful, clean, and safe burn every single time, please follow these essential care and safety guidelines.
By following these instructions, you help protect your home and ensure your candle performs exactly as designed.
⚠️Candle Safety⚠️
Before lighting your candle, always remember these three universal safety rules:
- Burn within sight: Never leave a burning candle completely unattended.
- Keep away from combustibles: Place your candle far away from curtains, drapes, books, paper, or anything else that can catch fire.
- Keep away from children and pets: Store and burn candles safely out of reach of little hands and curious paws.
How to Properly Care for Your Candle 🕯️
- Trim the Wick First: Always trim your candle's wick to 1/4 inch before lighting it every single time. This prevents high flames, smoking, and soot buildup.
- Let the Wax Pool: On your first burn, let the candle melt all the way to the edges of the jar. This prevents "tunneling" and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.
- Watch the Clock: Do not burn your candle for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Overheating the container can cause the glass to crack or the wax to degrade.
- Pick the Right Surface: Always place your candle on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface. Never place it directly on delicate wood or plastic furniture.
- Check for Drafts: Keep your burning candle away from open windows, ceiling fans, and air currents to prevent uneven burning or unexpected flare-ups.
- Keep it Clean: Keep the wax pool completely free of matchsticks, wick trimmings, and any other debris.
- Know When to Say Goodbye: Discontinue use and discard your candle when only 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container. Burning it past this point can dangerously overheat the base of the glass.
- Hands Off While Burning: Never move, touch, or handle a candle while it is lit or while the wax is still liquid and hot.
